Become a Social Care Worker with Orchard Fostering
Location: Cavan/Leitrim/Longford/Westmeath/Monaghan
Orchard Fostering is an Irish company established in 2008 that provides fostering and supported lodging services to children and young people who are referred to its service by TUSLA. Orchard Fostering is committed to service excellence and ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people in its care.
We currently have an opportunity for a full time Social Care Worker to join our team to support our service in the North West of Ireland covering counties Westmeath, Monaghan Cavan, Longford and Leitrim. 
The post holder will report directly to the Social Work Support Team Leader and work closely with both the social care and social work teams.
This hybrid (office base/home base) role will involve travel across the region for which you have responsibility 
About You
  • You must hold a relevant professional qualification at Level 8 or above in Social Care and be eligible for, or already hold CORU registration
  • Have Post graduate experience of working directly with children, young people, and families
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience in the foster care field, and/or experience of working therapeutically with children
  • Availability for some evening and weekend work will be required for this post.
  • Must have a clean driver’s license with validity to drive in Ireland and use of a car
  • Must have valid Garda Clearance.
  • Must have valid Overseas Clearance if applicant lived abroad for more than 6 months.
Main Duties: (not an exhaustive list)
  1. To work in conjunction with the Support Team Leader in the identification of specific needs for children, young people, and foster carers.
  2. To undertake interventions as directed by the Support Team Leader and meet the specific goals of this.
  3. To provide childcare support to foster carers where a support need has been identified.
  4. To work collaboratively with the different teams within the service to ensure that formal and informal support is  provided as required.
  5. To meet the children and young people’s physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs at all times.
  6. To maintain records of observations and report any issues that may be of concern.
  7. To undertake risk assessments on a formal and informal basis.
  8. To ensure all professionals and individuals are kept up to date with the plans and progress of interventions.
  9. To undertake access supervision, direct work, respite and educational pieces with children, young people, and foster families.
  10. To plan and manage individual and group work pieces.
  11. To advocate for the rights and needs of children, young people, and foster families within the service.
  12. To undertake the lead facilitation role for children’s groups and plan appropriate activities for this.
